You may have heard or read about cleansing” or “detoxing” your body.
I use the word “cleanse” because “detox” sounds a bit harsh to me. The whole area of cleansing can be confusing and I would like to simplify this for you.
It is important to remember that there are countless ways to cleanse your body. Many people I speak to about cleansing initially think of very extreme and restrictive cleanses such as the “Master Cleanse” (also called the “Lemonade Diet.”) Or, they think of fasting, juicing, taking lots of herbs and supplements, or colon hydrotherapy. Yes, these are all ways to cleanse your body. But, they may not be the appropriate cleanse for your body. I find that many people are turned off by the complexity or level of difficulty of these forms of cleansing.
I strongly believe that a cleanse can be simple, gentle, and effective. I say this with confidence because I know they have been for me and my clients. My strategy with health is to keep things simple. Why make things complex if we don’t have to?
How do you alter your diet during a cleanse? Cleansing usually consists of a combination of adding in nutritionally-dense foods and foods that assist in the cleansing process while reducing or removing foods that are either “congesting” or toxic.
