Food Focus: Napa Cabbage

Napa Cabbage Napa cabbage, also called Chinese cabbage, is one of my favorite greens to eat this time of year. It’s actually at the peak of its season. It is more delicate than more common forms of cabbage and is very quick and easy to cook.

Cabbage is a cruciferous vegetable (as is broccoli, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts) and these types of vegetables contain phytonutrients that signal our body to disarm free radicals – resulting in a lower risk for prostate, colorectal, lung, and breast cancer.

Amy's 5-Minute Napa Cabbage Stir Fry

Ingredients
1 head of Napa Cabbage, chopped and rinsed
2 TBS Sesame Oil
Gomasio* or Sesame Seeds to taste

Cooking Instructions

Heat sesame oil in a saute pan over medium heat. Add chopped cabbage and stir fry for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with gomasio or sesame seeds.

*Gomasio is a condiment that contains ground toasted sesame seeds and sea salt. It comes in a variety of "flavors" - plain, garlic, and seaweed. You can find Gomasio in your local health food store of buy online from
Eden Foods.
